January 6th, 2025: Today’s the 4th anniversary of Trump supporters storming the capital while the election certification process was ongoing. I woke up at 6:00am today in order to pack up quickly to go down to the Amtrak station, I had to wait in the bus stop (which was really not designed for cold weather) for the bus at 7:00am, I got down to the station at 7:35am and waited in line until 7:55am where we got to board the train. It was really nice on there and it only costed me $44 dollars for a round trip, the train then left at 8:05am, we eventually made it to the first stop in a short moment at the airport, I even saw a guy rushing to get on the train but it left before he could even get on, we then got to our next stop and imbetween the second and third stop I realized that I could have gotten a free ride via Amtrak if I am sneaky enough. At 9:35am I finally arrived in Chicago and I texted my grandma, who I will be calling Jane, and my dad that I was here. I then walked east to get to my Red Line stop. I went down into the Jackson Red Line stop, bought the card to use the turnstiles to get in, and then I got on the train because it was there immediately. On the train there was this Hispanic guy listening to TikToks at full volume for everybody to hear, I got tired of it and even thought of telling him to use his headphones that he was wearing when either of us got off, and if he attacked me I did have a knife.

However, we both got off at the same stop so I didn’t feel safe calling him out. I then walked to my grandma’s apartment and she greeted me while I got settled in, I got my Christmas gifts from my grandma which included an Apple AirTag, a book called The Woman Behind The New Deal, and a silver chain watch that made me look more Italian.

After that I tried to play with my grandma’s cat but she was not receptive to anything I did. Jane showed me her photo albums where I saw my dad, my great-grandpa, my dad’s friend Steinbrenner, and his then-girlfriend Julie. I watched the first episode of the second season of Squid Game. Eventually we went to pick up my cousin who I will be calling Jared, he’s pretty smart and his grandpa was in the Chicago Police Department so he got a good scholarship from that. He nearly picked up his friend’s keys and after that we drove to this sushi place to meet up with his mom/my aunt and one of his two older sisters, who I will be calling Thing Beta. Thing Beta gave me my Christmas gift of a $20 Steam gift card while we talked about how hard it is to get a job here. We had a good time at the place and I got to eat the ginger that others had, Thing Alpha wasn’t there because she was in New York City, my aunt made a joke about how me and Jared are both growing boys because we ate the most food out of the five of us. After dinner we head to this ice cream place and my aunt remarks about how the candy cigarettes they sold are the reason why she got addicted to cigarettes in the first place. After that me and my grandma drive to the grocery store to get some milk. I have to wait in a long ass line to get it but we get back home after that and I take a shower and then go to sleep.

January 7th, 2025: My first full day in Chicago, I woke up and immediately decided to make some cereal for myself as breakfast, but there wasn't that much so I just filled it out with some oats to make it a full bowl of cereal, after a bit Jane woke up and said hi to me and made some coffee. She proposed that we take a walk to the beachfront, which we did, walking up the street past this bookstore and then to the lakefront, it was very cold and there was these weird formations of snow hills and chunks of ice floating in the lake, with some of them up to the size of boulders, my grandma was concerned about there not being these ducks out on our walk out to the pier, after a certain point the ice was really thick and it was covering the fences really thickly, so I kicked some of the ice off so that people could grab onto the metal ropes if they foolishly decided to walk out on the pier. On the walk off the pier, we finally saw the ducks and Jane was overjoyed, we then proceeded north and I decided to walk up one of the snow hills, with the cloud formation in the background, it looked like I was on top of a mountain in a mountain range in the photo that she took, we then walked farther north and Jane talked about some stories she had about the police in Chicago being shit, mainly these 3:
1. During the Black Lives Matter movement, our family friend Jean was on the subway with this crazy White guy making a bunch of noise, Jean tells him:
"Shut up!"
And the crazy guy pushes him down when Jean gets off the train, one person helps him up and another calls to a barricade of police to stop the man, the police do nothing and even let the crazy man through, Jean confronts them and asks:
"Why did you even let him through?"
They say:
"You should go down to the station and file a report."
2. There was a point where my dad and Jane were in the South Side of Chicago because their car was stolen and located by the police, there was a police making racist remarks and said that if they were from the south side, then the policeman would have detained both of them, but they were White so they didn't, my dad was frustrated with his mom for the whole thing.
3. One time these White teenagers were robbed by these Black teenagers, Jane was there with her Black friend from California, I forgot why they were here but the cop asked the teenagers:
"Why were you hanging out with these niggers?"
Jane decided to report the cop for that and he got suspended without pay, the cop's officer met with her and her daughter's husband's father and uncle to try and intimidate her into rescinding her report but she refused. (By the way she mentioned the line the cop said near a Black man sitting on the park bench)
I continued the walk and she made a remark about how I used to dance to Foo Foo by Santana a lot when I was with Jane and my cousins when younger. When we got home we had lunch and then we took the bus down to the Museum of Contemporary arts to meet up with a friend, who was none other than Angeleno. We greeted each other and I paid for his ticket to get inside the museum. We saw all the exhibits and there was even one made by this black artist about racism, at the end we wrote in these books they gave you journals to write in, I made a "Plus-sized Black transkween" joke. We then went to the computer art exhibit as he followed me around. We eventually went downstairs for me to buy an expensive jasmine matcha donut, it tastes like shit but I finished it. Angeleno and I then go up to a final exhibit before my grandma says that we should head down and back to our place, we get on the very crowded bus and then get back to our place; however, Jane has us get off early to grab a pizza and ice cream mochi from Aldi. We then walked back to the apartment to give them the pizza, we then got inside and I asked Angeleno if he had watched the new season of Squid Game. He said he has not even watched the first season of Squid Game. I put Seinfeld on the TV and we watched it before heading into the living room to eat some bruschetta, salad, and pizza. We also had some wine before continuing to watch more Seinfeld.

Eventually Angeleno had to leave so we said goodbye to him, I then took a shower and went to bed.

Here's some things that I learned from Angeleno:
>He's in contact with Scar, who apparently got into a car crash and ended up winning $10,000 in the lawsuit.
>He loves Not Just Bikes
>He is staying in Chicago temporarily.
>He thinks that Froot is legitimately addicted to drugs, but he is also playing a character
>Kuz would add stuff to his own 'ki article under his IP, including the "Kuz is Gay" rumor.
>To be expanded on

January 8th, 2025: My final day in Chicago, I spent the first part of the morning packing up, my grandma said that we should leave around 12:00pm, she said that she was doing this yoga thing from 11:00am to 11:30am but it turns out that she lost her airpods and had to look all around for them, so no yoga for her. She then drives me down to the train station in Downtown Chicago and I realize too late that I forgot my suitcase; however, I wasn't going to stress over it because I only had two sets of clothes in them, I might be coming back next week so I didn't stress about it at all. I take a bit of a walk around the place before boarding the train, I remember while waiting in line, there was this one super loud Black girl wearing a Naruto t-shirt which was getting on my nerves, but overall the ride back home was pretty chill and we only had a child delay due to a freight train passing through. I waited for the bus a bit while I saw this cute Scene girl at the bus stop with dyed green hair. I didn't have the courage to talk to her, but this old lady tried to talk to me about getting her to call her neighbor, but I said no. After the bus ride I walked back to my apartment and unpacked a bit before hopping on the computer to game. At 4:00pm, I had to call my mom over Microsoft Teams in order to discuss getting another internship. I talked to her about Angeleno and she seemed weirdly angry and interrogative, which reminded me why I didn’t hang out with friends much when I was younger. I then went down to the local store to buy an outlet block to charge my phone with, I had some tater tots for dinner and then went to bed.

January 9th, 2024: I woke up this morning to have some cereal for breakfast, I did go outside for a bit to go on a walk. After a bit I decided to walk over to a bus stop to ride it all the way to its end, while reading the Bible. I did the bus ride because I would get it unlocked on this app called Superlocalmaps. On the bus ride there this Black guy sat near me and praised me for reading the scriptures, telling me to read Luke 10:19-20
>19 Behold, I have given you the power ‘to tread upon serpents’ and scorpions and upon the full force of the enemy and nothing will harm you.
>20 Nevertheless, do not rejoice because the spirits are subject to you, but rejoice because your names are written in heaven.
We talked a bit more and I said thank you to him before we ended up getting to 20th street where I saw this guy who looked like Post Malone minus all the tattoos driving extremely fast and he nearly hit the bus. We lucked out but I hate the drivers here. The Bible guy gets off later and then I get off at the mall, I make my way to the Starbucks and buy a pistachio latte from a Black woman who seemed interested in me. I walked around the mall a bit to find yet another Starbucks before walking back to the bus stop to take the bus back home. I then got home and updated my Linkedin before doing a bit more programming. I then made myself some mac and cheese for dinner before watching the Sonic movie, it was pretty cheesy to be honest. I finally went to bed, but not before lying to Asherah about completing Gayle Waters-Waters over text.

January 10th, 2025: Back to work, I woke up early in order to take the bus to work. Ignacio complimented me on using my new wallet. During work today, I had to clean the things where the tags were and while my knees were on the floor getting the lower tag holders, I ended up getting a cut in my left knee which resulted in a good amount of blood coming out, making me have to go to the bathroom to patch up. I ended up being able to get out early so I decided to take this one bus route I have taken a lot all the way to its end point, the person who happened to be on the bus was the girl who drove me home once, I found out from her that she left because she found it stressful, and also she was constantly high every day at work, she mentioned that she heard from fAsherah that the girl with sickle cell anemia got fired for having to get surgery, also there was this guy that tried to smell her and didn't get fired for doing meth. As she was on her way to the gym, she mentioned that she wanted to lose fat in her face so she looked older (she looks 20 but is actually 25), so I made a joke saying: "Be careful what you wish for, soon you'll look 35 at 26!" She finds it funny and then asks why I am riding the bus, I say that I am riding the bus for fun and she gets weirded out at me, I continue along on my bus ride and notice it gets less and less full until we got to the end. I walked across the street to the gas station, I am pretty sure I was the only White guy there, the bathroom was out of order so I decided to just buy a bag of mini Oreos for like $2, the cashiers were protected by bulletproof glass and I had to pass the cash through the opening below. I then got it and walked back to the bus. I waited to get on while the woman driving the bus had to quickly spray down the interior of the bus with literal Pine Sol. I get on the bus and then wait for it to start driving down the road. I texted Joseph that I would only be able to go out for dinner with him at 6:00pm instead of 5:30pm. I then texted the girl who found me weird for riding the bus with a screenshot of my location on Google maps saying:
>Having fun in a place you have constantly been before?
<is this gemerson
>Do you not have my number saved?
<new phone, i almost shat my pants that's a horrifying message to get from a random number
>Wait so that's why you never responded to my previous text?
>Wait did you quit?

<i must've not gotten it- but yes i did quit (as we now know)
>Are you going to tell fAsherah about my bus enthusiasm?
<or lack there of
>Lack?
<i did cause i asked if she had your number bc i was confused asf
<and then i was like literally who else would this be

>I never asked for fAsherah's number though.
<i wasn't sure
>Oh,
>What happened to your old phone?

<literally no idea it just randomly turned off and never turned on again
>Did you charge it, or even replace the battery?
<it was like $600 to fix but $200 for a new one so i got a new one lol
>Broooo
<i know like wtf
>At the CITGO they stopped at, it had bulletproof glass between the cashier and you had to slip the money through a slot underneath
<classic [city] precautions
>I've never seen this before at any [city] gas station.
<gemerson ur from [homecity]
<it's common asf

>I have been to multiple [city] gas stations before.
>Don't ignore me loser!

I finally got back to my stop at 5:45pm and walked home, I took off my shoes because they were bothering me and then put a different pair back on, I then went outside to wait for Joseph to pick me up and he did, during our time together he talks about how Father Malachi was doing the two masses at the church for this Sunday (not the one I would be at), how he dislikes the Traditional Latin Mass because he didn't like having to read all Latin instructions when he was an acolyte, there was also the fact that it was his great niece's second birthday today, and two of his nephews that lived in Los Angeles, one in Koreatown, were concerned about their houses burning down with the fire, after that he drove me home and I went to sleep.

January 11th, 2024: Woke up at 7:00pm to get back to work, the bus ride there as ok and I had to do the beverage cooler for my first task, then working on my other tasks, including portioning cheese (which I hadn’t done in a long time) and some more vacuuming among other things, one time when I went up to the front to grab a brush, fAsherah tells me to come over and that I should shake her “hand” which was actually a taxidermied deer leg that we had at the store, also Will offered me a banana for free. During my second break, I saw fAsherah sitting in the break room and I asked her if she saw the text I sent her friend and she said yes, saying that she was going to mock me for it. Later on Jesse had me write out how many of each item we had in the warehouse until it was closing time. Closing time was ok except for when I had to drymop the store, because there was this one boomer couple that was being an asshole to me, they were slow to move the first time and when I needed to pass them the second time, they didn’t move their shopping cart, I said:
“Excuse me, could you move your cart, I’m trying to clean here.”
To which the husband said:
“I’m trying to shop here!”
I then whispered under my breath:
“Fuck off you wastes of oxygen.”
I remember seeing Ignacio up front and I wish I told him about the two but I didn’t. I then got out and went home to work on doing this programming stuff to get an opportunity to do a retake, I asked Torvalds if he did any of them and he said that he just started today. I continued programming and ended up only having two cold hotdogs for dinner. I then took a shower and went to sleep while having to deal with Enosh loudly watching television in the living room.
