February 17th, 2025: Back to school today (even though it is Presidents' day today, my school doesn't have it off,) I finished off the last package of s'more poptarts and I broke down the box to recycle it, which reminded me of work. The daily biblejak had a reading which I found pretty interesting: (Genesis 4:1-15, 25)
>8 Cain said to Abel his brother, "Let us go out to the field." And when they were in the field, Cain rose up against his brother Abel, and killed him.
>9 Then the LORD said to Cain, "Where is Abel your brother?" He said, "I do not know; am I my brother's keeper?"
>10 And the LORD said, "What have you done? The voice of your brother's blood is crying to me from the ground.
>11 And now you are cursed from the ground, which has opened its mouth to receive your brother's blood from your hand.
>12 When you till the ground, it shall no longer yield to you its strength; you shall be a fugitive and a wanderer on the earth."
>13 Cain said to the LORD, "My punishment is greater than I can bear.
>25 And Adam knew his wife again, and she bore a son and called his name Seth, for she said, "God has appointed for me another child instead of Abel, for Cain slew him."
Which reminded me of the whole thing about children of Adam and Eve other than Abel, Cain, and Seth, with there being the daughters Azura and Awan according to the Book of Jubilees and 9 other sons. Which lies in stark contrast to me just having a singular older sister and no brothers. There was also the very short quote from Mark (Mark 8:11-13) about the Pharisees being Pharisees. I went to the convenience store while walking over sheets of ice trying not to slip, I got into the store and bought some of the generic french vanilla powdered coffee creamer they had, I paid for it along with a bowl of instant ramen and walked back to my apartment. I got a message that my medication was ready to be picked up so I had to take a long trek over to the pharmacy while it was below freezing. I eventually got there, paying $10.00 for it and shoving the bag with the pills in the pocket of the outer layer of my coat. I went over to this coffee shop next door to see what they had and who was there. I didn’t recognize anyone so I just ordered a 16 ounce peanut butter mocha which set me back $6.00. I drank my mocha on my walk back home and kind of enjoyed it to be honest, but by the time I arrived at my apartment the tips of my fingers were freezing even with my gloves on. I went to my house and took a pill before making my ramen for lunch. At 11:28am I got a message from James saying:
<Lmk when you're ready and I'll head over
So I replied:
>I’m ready, I’m in [apartment address]
<Alright I'll be on my way
>From misery to happiness today.
<Woah
>Bro
I frantically went about cleaning up the place by wiping down the counters in the kitchen and doing the dishes. At 11:56am I got some more texts from James saying:
<Am here
<Could you possibly meet me outside
>Just a moment.
I walked out wearing my coat and met him at the front door to let him in and showed him around the place for a bit. The takeaway that he had was that the only bonuses that my apartment had over his was that mine is bigger and is closer to where we needed to go. After a short while he decides to walk me over to his apartment. I have to cross some streets to see it but when I get in there I am amazed at how much better it is! The rug is clean, the couch is comfortable, the building looks brand new and isn’t slowly decaying, the floors are clean, there’s a balcony, and there are many decorations in it. I took a picture of this decoration that I asked James about:
James says to me that it is his Tibetan Buddhist roommate’s shrine that he has set up, who I will be calling Quoc. I found it pretty nice that this guy who I knew since my first semester at college. He was pretty chill when I met him. James went over the place more and showed the inside of his room, which included a Spanish bible he got from a lady he goes to church with and a poster for a band called Babymetal. I get to see the place some more and I find out that from the start of June to the end of August, James would be in Fort Knox for some JROTC training while Quoc would then move out at the end of August. I liked the idea and James sent me the number of the landlady, we were kind of acquaintances but the one thing that united us all was that Asherah hated us, she hates Quoc because I remember freshman year when told me that she told Quoc to fuck off because he asked her out, she hates James because he said that he believed that the Earth was only 6000 years old, I asked James further about it and he said that he believes in the King James Bible as the ultimate word of God, and me because I called Peronism satanic and driven by greed (because they spent a lot and couldn't be bothered to collect taxes) and for returning to my Catholic roots, No I never tried to hit on her. I then walked to my first class of the day to learn more about pointers, it was really boring. Next was my class with Padma. I saw her sitting and chuckled to myself while I worked on my blog post for yesterday. I messaged Angela a lot throughout the day with her talking about how she is finally passing Chemistry, her grandparents which don’t like the fact that she isn’t married yet, her brother throwing her favorite stuffed animal out onto the Ohio freeway when she was 5 because she kept begging to play with his Gameboy, the fact that I only ever named one of my stuffed animals when I was young which was just a snowman named Snowman, her drawing me as a gunslinger:
The fact that she exercised her legs a lot and could leg press 230lbs until she suffered an injury, and also her trip to buy cute dresses at Goodwill today. I then went to my art class in the blistering cold but managed to get there, the teacher had us pin up our art works in progress so they could be critiqued, I put my piece all the way at the right end so it would go last but the teacher decided to switch things up and have me go first and they ripped into it:
<When our group was looking at it, we loved the plants and the whole floor and everything, like how it all goes together, but we feel like as it is, it's a little bit bottom heavy. We see that there's something planned up top, bt uh something added up there would really bring it all together - Some guy
Another person then chimes in
<I thought something similar. Like I feel like there's so much like the entire piece has such a clear light source, you can tell they use perspective to make sure the light was perfectly or the shadows were perfectly lined up. So I think about bringing some of that light source up to the top because you can see that circle as clearly where all the light is coming from. They should make it dark on the other side of the wall and make it get lighter when it comes towards the circle to like make it look like it's glowing. I like that! - Ginger girl
^Alright anything else? and Gemerson, how did you say you were going to do it, like you mentioned three different kinds of value developments right? - The teacher
>Yeah, for like each wall and I am thinking of doing cross hatching for one of them and then I'm not about the other one, but like... - My response
^Yeah um what do you think of the idea of possibly making the lighting pretty consistent coming from the orb, is that what you were thinking? - Her response
>Yes!
^I think the circulisms or the scribbling is quite nice, you know, it looks almost scribbly up close, but then it has really nice representation of the light source from a distance. I would say you probably just want to maintain pretty high contrast here, as like a focal point, so you know once you push that contrast, I would keep this up here fairly light, probably. Is that what you were planning to do?
>Absolutely!
^And is this resolved yet or you're still gonna go into that area?
>I'm thinking of something
^I'm imagining just some lighter hatching, possibly with a lighter micron pen. Yeah, I think this is actually really nice and just pushing that contrast. Are you going to do anything up here?
>Probably just some light shading up there to represent the sky.
^The first guy's point is pretty good, you know just making it less bottom heavy.
After that my roasting session was done and it was onto the next person and then the many others who had worked through this assignment with me, although I was jealous because their art was somewhat better than mine. I remembered that the new chapter of The Jojolands released today, so after the art gallery, I went to the bathroom to read it and I enjoyed it a lot. To be honest, Acca is kind of a nutjob though, like his grandfather. I then walk back home in the cold and try to go to bed but I am unable to because I took my medication too late into the night and just ended up thinking about implementing Dungeons and Dragons 3.5th edition into the RPG Maker MZ engine and all the difficulties that it entailed. I tried to heat up some hot milk but that didn't help either.
