Meta Log

September 3rd, 2024: First day of classes, however it was just one class at 4pm and I had mistakenly set my alarm for 8am because I thought I had a 9:30am class today even though I didn’t. I tried turning on my Thinkpad today only for it to keep giving me the critically low battery error, I checked the charger which clearly worked, so I put it on the charger for longer and it still had issues. I discussed with my friend Torvalds about the issue and he suggested that we swap chargers tomorrow because he and I had the same exact model and battery. After my class, which was actually kind of funny because my teacher genuinely said that she spoke English as a Second Language. (She’s from Taiwan.) I decided to go to this Catholic dinner event but I ended up arriving too early so I just decided to leave. At home after I took my nightly shower I decided to start rewatching Neon Genesis Evangelion because why not, I only ended up having time to complete one episode.

Birthday countdown: 5 days.

Nah, I don’t use Grammarly, the red line appears by itself if you type out “unironically.”

September 4th, 2024: Another day of classes today, this time I had 3 classes today, a programming concepts class, a natural language processing class, and a computer architecture class. It turns out that Torvalds is also in my programming concepts class and we sat next to each other talking about the class, after the class was done we went to one of the computer labs to experiment with my computer and find out that the problem was with my USB-C charger port not working and it had nothing to do with my battery. As a solution, Torvalds and I decided to swap chargers and then I left for my second class, which was honestly pretty boring. After my second class I went back to my apartment to make myself some Mac and cheese for lunch, play some more Fire Emblem Awakening. My third class was pretty long but we got breaks in-between lectures and the lab at the end where we had to set up two programming environments, I sat next to my friend Daniel and he ended up helping me figure out the second part which was really nice. After I had some more leftover jambalaya for dinner I went downtown for an Adult confirmation class at this Catholic church and this priest from Colombia was leading it, he seemed pretty nice.

Birthday countdown: 4 days.
Song of the Day: Maimouna Cherie - Vincent Ahehhinnou (1978)

By the way, I am going to be staying in the Upper Peninsula in a remote place from September 5th to September 8th and that place I am staying has no wifi or cellular service so I may or may not be able to post my schlog blog updates.

September 5th, 2024: I had to get up early even though I was skipping my class today because Photography Aunt was going to pick me up to head up north. I decided to call Asherah in the meantime to tell her about the Confirmation class but she didn’t pick up. Photography Aunt said she was going to pick me up at 9am but it ended up being 10am when she picked me up along with another relative. We drove a while before stopping to eat at a restaurant and then drove some more. On the drive I ended up finding this account on Xitter that probably belonged to SmartSchoolBoy9 and I decided to start baiting xer by constantly spamming my face saying that I am xer “14 year old cousin David.” (Xe only liked the photos of me in a suit and tie.) We drove until we finally arrived at this fancy house to stay at this place overlooking one of the great lakes which was really nice. After a while staying at the fancy house I walked over to the campground where I was to be staying and set up my stuff there in a pop-up camper. I didn’t continue watching Evangelion but I did start reading the manga, which I am honestly enjoying so far.

Birthday countdown: 3 days.

what are your plans for your birthday now thats its 3 days away?

September 6th, 2024: I woke up pretty cold dealing with the cold wind from the lake, for breakfast I had eggs and bacon and I played some more Fire Emblem Awakening in my little spot. Around noon we went to this old grave site and looked around at the graves, we noticed a lot displayed only their days of death along with their ages, I learned an interesting thing from my 7th Day Adventist cousin (a grave having 'Rest In Peace' on it means that the person was a Protestant,) and even got some free apples along the way, after the graveyard stop we went hiking to this waterfall and I almost lost my water bottle because it fell off the cliff (it was like 20 feet from the top of the waterfall to the bottom,) and I had to climb down to get it. After that we walked back and my group decided to stop at this bar with a lot of Marilyn Monroe stuff and our table all ordered something to drink except for me, although my aunt offered me a sip of her beer and I found it weird tasting. Once we got back home we later went to another person’s house to have a happy hour party and I got offered a full can of beer (still tasted weird,) got a world map book back from when Adolf Hitler was in power but before World War II so they still had the free city of Danzig, saw the cooks breaking spaghetti in half, and had some white wine along with the spaghetti.

Birthday countdown: 2 days.
