Why should the child suffer death for the sins of his father? A person has one shot at living and you would take that away from a person who hasn't even taken their first breath. Imagine God knitting you in your mothers womb, ready to experience all the glory and sorrow life has to offer, just for your mother to sign her own child's death warrant. What a grim fucking prospect. Talk about a shitty childhood, how's infanticide sound? People have been born during occupation, plagues, poverty, wars, famines and guess what? They strived and survived, such is life. Who's to decide what circumstances are worse than death? You say 90% of those people would have a shitty life, what about the other 10%? Is it not worth the 10% who would love life? Should we just stop birthing children all together, considering how many people are born defective or end up depressed or unsatisfied? Should we value human life based on how much this life enjoys their day to day existence?
No one is saying the mother should be forced to raise the child, if she's so heartless as to abandon her own blood, let her. But to kill a person is evil, that's an intolerable outcome.
