i don't really know, i kinda lost my ability to make friends a few years ago. my sole irl friend has known me for 6 years. during middle school i had like almost a dozen people that would talk to me often, i think covid nuked that part of my brain.

Depends on your definition of a friend, but to me that's easier than say getting a girlfriend because although it requires similar steps it takes extra steps to get there.
First all of you could engage with your immediate surroundings if you lived in a (decent/safe) neighborhood by befriending and getting to know your neighbors, you could also find social spots in town where some of the people are like a skatepark or something, the immediate easy answer would be a mall but those aren't really a thing anymore... so...
You could also befriend work colleagues by engaging with them when you're both not on break and then make small chat and get to know them outside of work.

Anyway, you just gotta interact with people, make small chat, put yourself out there, things of that nature. or don't and continue to be a selfish little fuck.
