Discussion How will "x... but 20 YEARS AGO!!" enthusiasts think of all the AI-generated shit 20 years ahead?

I don't know, just thinking... I've been seeing a lot of once-legitimate labels, smaller companies, sites, college promotional flyers, random local businesses, etc. groups that existed years ago now using AI in ways now such as drawing Youtube thumbnails or the "cover art" for "singles" (I guess as a cost-cutting measure, or because they somehow prefer the look of glossy midjourney art over the amateur 2000's newgrounds aesthetic or paying a hindu on fiverr to shit out a 2016-esque dubstep cover art). Also, now a lot of American slop billionaires are hopping on the AI hype train because its the trendy thing to do right now (see: ai-gen coca cola ad, whatever the fuck nvidia stock is doing right now). Also now theres a lot of AI-gen content farm shit made by get-rich-quick grifter types (mostly flooding image search results related to fantasy creatures) that exists now and for all I know will be preserved unusually well for what it is

Now, when it's 2045 and the nostalgia cycle finally exhumes the PS1 out of its ass, what will this new generation of anemoia tiktok-successor larpers feel about generative AI from 2023-202X?

I remember FROM THE START thinking that the shitty ai graphics of the early 2020s (like early dalle mini in 2021) would eventually become nostalgic and people would seek to explicitly recreate it’s look cus it’s just so jarring and unique
I’m wondering when people will look for it, all I’ve seen of it is Duran Duran’s music video for Invisible

that, or they think the 2020's must have been really awesome because it must have been ONLY the cool abstract dreamy imageGAN style ai art everywhere (that, or the bird with balls image) that people were using and that we were in the wrong for complaining... while conveniently ignoring that the unique looking stuff was limited to techbros who happened to know how to code python, and that functionally all of the ai-gen in total was midjourney factory line slop without not a hint of prompt engineering or a spark of sovl
