Probably not even close to what you had in mind but I've always thought gunsmithing was kinda cool. Firearms are intricate pieces of machinery and learning how they work could be interesting, maybe even repairing them too.
There's always a bunch of shitty guns at the pawn shop I pass by sometimes. Doubt they're very expensive too.
