I discussed this topic with a friend of mine few weeks back. I think the excessive (unhealthy) love some women have for animals is them projecting their motherly feelings onto animals like cats or dogs because many of them don't have any children these days. It's a coping mechanism. As we value animals more, the amount of value we attach to humans seems to decrease. It's disgustingly immoral.
