/calm/ CALAMITY | soyjak.terraria.party:46961 | A schlog terraria server!

Terraria has events that are still hard like the frost and pumpkin moon, after ML, people opt for highest score on those, they start building shit or dps test
But yeah, once you beat the last boss it's pretty much done, only builders and completionists stay for a while
perhaps it could just be a matter of "okay well it's done, lets just screenshot everything, post your recordings, end the thread in memorization, release the world for download and stop the server until people get bored and want to do it again maybe 2 to 5 months later or something like that" imo a minecraft server has a lot more replayability and longjevity but terraria is still quite a fun game. not to be weird or anything, I'm enjoying the journey for sure, some people are missing out though, going to sleep waking up and most of the bosses just defeated lol, but it's when you get to the end you question yourself and ask "well what now" and i guess it's either you play some bloated mod like calamity or you just stop playing i guess, call it the "Schlog Terraria Event" do some remembrance shit and then just abandon it. theres no point in trying to make it immortal, if it can't be immortal. etc.

otherwise i could pick 1 lucky player who we all agree was the best and make them king of the next "season" (they get like super admin powers or something) (giving it to hagon so he can abuse me for being a rulecuck janny ack!) and see how well they run the server. idk, maybe i just have to like let go and focus on different projects in the future, but by far this one has got to be my most favourite project. I've been a server admin before and I've never seen success like this, going to sleep and waking up realising that there are still players online, players playing even when I sleep, this has probably been the best experience as a server admin, like. ever. just swirling up a VPS, getting things running flawlessly, no ddossing, constant playercount, i have actually achieved something pretty cool and tbh hopefully i can provide more servers for the schlog for all kinds of games in the future.

We should do a Minecraft one after this or something, it probably won't be dead and possibly more alive than the Terraria server. But the hosting is a problem geg

we'd have to discuss how that would work and what version it would be on, what plugins it would have, maybe custom developed plugins by me, maybe it could use multiverse so you can have survival and creative plots, maybe factions etc. a mc server is a lot more involved. Hosting is not really a problem as long as you have me but it could still be a problem if you wanted latest or something like that... and also the ram requirements, which is why the terraria server is honestly doing so well right now, because the ram and cpu usage is just amazingly low.

we've already beaten the mecha bosses, i wonder what happens after moon lord
do we just keep the world or does everyone just quit? maybe once moon lord has been beaten you can all grief spawn or something idk lol.
like you guys are kind of speedrunning the server so much so that people are on constantly theres never a moment of 0 players online.
does it just end and thats it no more terraria ever? or should we do like a season 2, up the difficulty to master, make the world extra large, do things a little differently
or do we just keep the world as it is and have it be a sandbox for people to visit whenever they like.

could even do modded but im just asking cus i bought a domain for like a year and wanted to see if maybe the server could just be a permanent thing that'll always be there, but idk i guess.
could even release the worlds for download after every "season" if we do that route.

personally i dont think people want to play more than once tbh, but if more newGODs ever join the schlog they might want a chance, perhaps. and also people who haven't done it yet.
but if it's just a 1 month / 1 week thing then its a 1 week thing i guess
I was gone for like a day💀

I was thinking about this last night, and I think the only way we could solve this is having like 1 day a week (or several non-consecutive) days where the server goes up and everyone gets on. Otherwise you're gonna miss a lot no matter what.

ev&oe no solution is perfect but playing on the weekend is still going to have less people falling behind or something + if you miss one day you'll still have an easier time catching up
