Stop thinking about gender literally
Dog is dog, female dog is bitch, same in russian.
Just because the word for bird (Птица) is femenine doesn't mean you won't call male birds with that word too. It only matters grammatically

verbs are actions, not sure how they could ever be gendered

Quick questions for any russians: Nouns have gender, so собака is a feminine noun for dog. So, if I see собака, does that mean Female dog? If I have a male dog, should I always use пёс?

Haven't learn numbers yet, but I can atleast tell a few things from your sentence. Пёс is male dog, ну means "Well", уже means "already" или что то means "or something"
