One thing I find a little silly about Islam is how the halal/haram stuff goes out the window when you're in a life-threatening situation; if you were starving and all you could eat was a plate of bacon, technically it would be allowed.
I know self-preservation is important and nobody should be forced to "meet their maker" like that, but it's odd considering how much emphasis is placed on it otherwise.
