what blue collar job do you work?
i used to work as a part-time mechanic.
That's probably where I'll end up, and I don't mean to say that's a bad thing. To be honest I don't think I'd enjoy a career involving my main skill (le heckin computers) especially if I'm just going to be some I.T. admin getting bitched at by office workers who make twice as much as I do all day. Sounds pretty grim.
While not all of those blue collar jobs involve physical labor, I'll probably need to get fit before I really start doing that stuff.
I knew from the get-go that I'm going to be a member of the working class, and as I'm approaching 6 months since my HS graduation I'm gonna be honest and say traditional college sounds fucking terrible and always has.
traditional college isn't worth it. the student debt isn't worth it and they're probably filled with annoying libshits. i was more interested in going into a trade anyway. i was always interested in cars since i was a kid. i remember my dad taking me into car meets and me being fascinated by the cars there. i always preferred classic american cars and especially lowriders.

u don't need to be fit to be working in a blue collar job. when i first worked as a tireman at a local tire shop with me being a protege to my dad at 15, i was a bit chunky and weak, but i managed to do fine at it.

well, what's the problem then?

Fair. With college I wasn't intending to go past an associate degree anyway; I'm not what most people would consider smart and the amount of money I'd have to dump into it would cripple me for a long time. I'll try and do some looking during the next few months, see what I like and what won't work.

It's just that I don't really have a backup plan, I never intended to diverge from the path of typical I.T. bullshit and had my mind set on it for several years.
I have several options that seem interesting, but I have very little knowledge of them and haven't spent any time doing proper research. Things like being a mechanic, or maybe going into farming or some other agriculture thing.

nice, i still might pick up a trade just as a side gig (since they're always in demand) but i plan on going into firefighting
ac repair is a good option. there's always a demand and everyone needs it. decent money too.

firefighting is a unique one. i never heard anyone on here or irl wanting to be a firefighter.

looking for jobs rn is what u should be focusing on.

An oil rig, that actually sounds kind of appealing. Of course there's the downside of probably being away from home for long periods, but needless to say that doesn't affect me all that much. I'm sure the pay is decent too considering the kinda special situation.
Now I have to work on trying to persuade my parents to accept this whole shift; I actually mentioned trade schools as a random thing to my father one time and he wasn't pleased. But of course there's more to it than that, people can be persuaded.
I don't feel like an adult at all mentally.

you might also be able to do IT in Antarctica too

Oh yeah, absolutely. Sorry, I'm looking too far into the future without focusing on the present. No matter what happens I'll likely do some work in retail for a while before I further my education. It's good to have a little past experience even if it's useless, I'll learn some skills that can transfer over.

idk i just like the idea of not being confined to an office chair and to be able to move around pump iron and help people. i'm also thinking of doing usmc beforehand but idk
i wouldn't recommend going into the military simply bc there's no reason not incentive to do so. i wanted to join the usmc too, but ik that i'd js be a complete ZOGbot doing so.
