This shit hasn't been interesting since 2022. Every time something seems to be happening it just ends up being a nothingburger. Just how much longer until it ends? Slavshits can't make war interesting to save their lives.

It's gonna end bad for Ukraine one way or another, unfortunately. It never looked more grim than now for the Ukrainians.

It's going to be a massive money drain on whomever gets it in the end. It's entirely dependent on foreign aid, it produces nothing, it is running dangerously short on young working-age population and has a shit ton of pensioners. I'm curious to see how that will play out in the long run.

Eastern ukraine has tons of iron, natural gas and rare earth metals that russia wants access to. A friendly state controlling eastern ukraine is also important since it creates a buffer state between russia and nato. Taking the majority russian areas in eastern ukraine is also important to russian ultranationalists.
Nato wants access to these resources for themselves and a long border against russia that russia will be forced to spend a lot of money on defending.
Having ukraine as a friendly state is not a drain on resources, it's actually very profitable.

How is it profitable for NATO to have to pay for all the costs of running the Ukrainian state though? And arming them, too. Ukraine has burned through a shit ton of non-easily replaceable equipment

i didn’t know anything about ukraine prior so like it really doesn’t matter

When rearming ukraine we can make them use western equipment only. That forces them to keep buying from us in order to replace broken and upgrade dated equipment since it's easier to do continue using material their soldiers are already trained to use than to train everyone to use other things. Western weapons are also only optimized for western ammunition meaning that they have to keep buying that from us as well.

The natural resources there add up to trillions or however much all the pride parades cost combined, so the war will continue until one side spends more than that.
