i would say to focus on an interest that isn't too expensive. firearms, conputers, and especially cars could get very expensive.

What do you do with a weapon? You fire it
What do you do with a car? You drive it

Mechanic and Firearms should be something every man knows / learns / proficient with.
Should at least be able to change your oil, alternator, tires, ect.
