• Happy pride month, xisters of the schlog!

Upgraded my cooler recently

bro what fucking trash tier cooler were you using before?
It was the stock cooler that came with the prebuilt I had purchased during a time of chip shortage, buying a prebuilt during that time was cheaper than buying parts and assembling a computer yourself. At least it was for me, anyway. Long story short, I figured for such a cost they wouldn't fuck my cooling and I was wrong. I only upgraded it now because I've started playing more graphically intensive games that'd benefit greatly from a higher cpu clock rate. Previously, I was forced to set my clockrate to a lower value to avoid throttling, but I can let my CPU run at its maximum now with the upgraded cooling which nets me around 20 to 30 frames on average in graphically intensive videogames.

Damn, didn't know stock coolers were that awful. I had always assumed CPUs would definitely run hotter if you didn't invest in a decent cooler, but the 30°C difference is crazy. Kinda makes me wonder if they were using "refurbished" coolers to bring the price down. Is your CPU from AMD or Intel? I haven't been into PCs for a while but IIRC thermal issues are notorious with the latter.

Intel, it wasn't the stock cooler you're thinking of. It was some junk deepcool bottom of the line cooler. I wouldn't be surprised if the stock intel cooler outperformed it. But yes, my CPU is intel based on LGA 1200. I'm a big fan of Intel, it's American after all.

And to clarify, the 30C difference is there during load. They perform similarly at idle, THOUGH, the Noctua fan is much quieter.

Today when I walked into my economics class I saw something I dread every time I close my eyes. Someone had brought their new gaming laptop to class. The Forklift he used to bring it was still running idle at the back. I started sweating as I sat down and gazed over at the 700lb beast that was his laptop. He had already reinforced his desk with steel support beams and was in the process of finding an outlet for a power cable thicker than Amy Schumer's thigh. I start shaking. I keep telling myself I'm going to be alright and that there's nothing to worry about. He somehow finds a fucking outlet. Tears are running down my cheeks as I send my last texts to my family saying I love them. The teacher starts the lecture, and the student turns his laptop on. The colored lights on his RGB Backlit keyboard flare to life like a nuclear flash, and a deep humming fills my ears and shakes my very soul. The entire city power grid goes dark. The classroom begins to shake as the massive fans begin to spin. In mere seconds my world has gone from vibrant life, to a dark, earth shattering void where my body is getting torn apart by the 150mph gale force winds and the 500 decibel groan of the cooling fans. As my body finally surrenders, I weep, as my school and my city go under. I fucking hate gaming laptops.
