Trump's Tarriffs don't make sense

The USA's income mostly came from tarriffs back when industry was underdeveloped. Protectionism was a good thing because it allowed domestic industry to develop and countless jobs to be created. Strengthening and developing America. However eventually America's industry was sufficiently developed and we were able to produce more goods than we consumed, it would only make sense to export these goods for even more money, so tarriffs made no sense. In our modern globalized economy, autarky and isolationism is retarded. If Trump was smart he'd focus on exploiting Amerikkkas neocolonies and global economic soft power dominance. Not fucking autarky.

I feel like the democratic process is starting to become non-viable honestly
we get these candidates who spew lies because they're horrible and then when theyre elected they dont do shit
