"Soy" in Turkish just means ancestry/lineage so it's pretty normal from our perspective.
Also I think the correct name would be "Soydan" in Turkish instead of soytan. It basically means someone who is of (this) particular lineage.

Turkish names can be really retarded. I know a guy named "Göktan" and the name "Kaan" instead of the correct "Kağan" is really prevalent for NO reason
