i used to think ai art was really keyed, because it could do abstract effects that a human would otherwise never be able to come up with/would absolutely suck to do in real time (such as
latent space walks), and img2img, touchups with infill. also more frequently do i use ai voices as a souped up version of text to speech, 'cause aint nobody ever replied to my threads on the sharty when i would ask people to voice shit and then i just gave up on trying by the 3rd time it failed... stuff like pic related basically, and the gigafly gifs i consider keyed uses of ai. to me, ai was always a tool to make impossible effects possible, not as a replacement for the artistic process

however, now that stable diffusion is no longer a nerdy techbro tool and everyone and they mum is using "ai" because microsoft and every other tech company on the planet is shilling it on them, it feels like... slop. well, now theres no longer as many open source models because its a literal goldrush ongoing, so i cant mess with internal things in ways that (((they))) didn't originally intend it for (you vill NOT have fun!!!). suddenly the only people i see using ai (at least obviously) are people using it to shit out roblox slopgame thumbnails, shit out brainrot content to farm money off of tiktok because some grifter told xim that xhe could. and shit out an endless amount of obviously fake gpt-generated "articles" with ai-gen images in them to game SEO and ruin any search results that dont have "site:reddit.com" appended.
also terrible in that ai-gen art by nature of its ability to shit out massive amounts of seo-optimized images floods search results with effectively simulacrums of simulacrums. if im trying to use references to draw something, i'd rather not see 100 glossy generic midjourney images with fucked up fingers and sludgy details versions of the thing im trying to draw, please and thank you
furry porn sweatshops losing customers to gooners using locally run ai to save their $200? entirely deserved. the sinners of asmodeus had it coming.
