Discussion Spongebob thread

nubob is coal probably i havent watched it since i was like 8
Oldbob won. It has funnier jokes and the quality is better. Now when I check out nubob I have no clue what the fuck I'm even looking at.

That's nice, do you prefer old or new spongebob?
Good question, I'm not sure, there's a bias in seeing old spongebob as better but there's some bad episodes like Suds where fucking nothing happens except for him getting sick. There's even worse episodes in new spongebob like The Splinter and Whirlybrains and the one where Patrick invites Spongebob to meet his sped friends, but there's some decent episodes that I can't think of rn. I think my favorite of all time episode would be Shanghaied, the one where the trio gets trapped in the Dutchman's ship, it reminded me of the sense of humor in another show called *The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy*

One thing that New Spongebob can't replicate for me is the closeups. It just doesn't feel the same compared to the older closeups. Maybe it's because of the higher quality making it oversaturated, or I may be just wearing rose-colored glasses. The production team has already run out of ideas for the show, which forces them to work on 20 different spinoffs and 20 movies that nobody asked for. It's sad to see how the franchise sort of fell apart, especially after Hillenburg's death. Now, with all the excessive bloatedness of the series, they're just pissing on his grave. Sad really, but I cope with this by taking some time to watch Old Spongebob, and it cheers me up again.

Thanks to the staff that made a splinter thread [wholesome]
Why did you guys keep Hagon's message doebeit [angry]
Anyway do you guys remember seeing that retarded theory that was like "The spongebob characters represent the 7 deadly sins"?

I like oldbob better, but I can appreciate that the people that work on nubob probably want to make it like it was back then, so I commend them on their efforts. The newer episodes of SpongeBob aren't as bad as people say, but they do things that irritate me, like reusing jokes which just kind of.. makes the joke fall flat and leaves me groaning. But I also think the animation looks pretty vibrant and well-done, so that's nice. I prefer the plots in the earlier seasons of SpongeBob better doe, since they obviously had more to go off of back then.
