Since I use SD cards and microSD cards on a number of things, most notably my 3DS and my Wii, I figured I would make a thread for it.

- 2 Terabyte SDXC Is The Current Largest MicroSD Card
- Up To 512GB For High Endurance MicroSD SanDisk Cards, Up To 256GB For Max Endurance MicroSD Sandisk Cards

I heard rumors of a 4 terabyte SD card being released at some point in 2025 or 2026, but if such even is true, it will be very expensive and not worth it. Hoping for the 2 terabyte microSD cards to go down from $200 each to $100 at some point. High endurance is way better than the regular microSDs, since they are (seemingly) built to last way longer. Even stranger, they're not much more than the regular ones, so unless you have very good reason not to, just go for high endurance. Whenever high endurance 2 terabyte cards are available for a reasonable price, such as $100 each, I will likely get several of them to use on the consoles I need to use them for. 3DS internal SD and flashcart will have 2TB, Wii + Wii U slots will have 2TB, and my Switch console would have a 2TB as well (or more likely, the Switch 2 will). Theoretically, SDUC cards can go up to 128TB, so if those are made anytime soon, such as in the 2030s, I'll likely use one for my phone. 2TB High or Max Endurance cards are wanted by me because they pretty much guarantee I won't ever need more storage again. If it is particularly durable, it would also be usable for playing Gamecube+Wii games off of it, meaning I'd only need an HDD for the Wii U games.

Yes, I acknowledge the ridiculous boot-times on a 3DS with 2TB of internal storage, along with the unnecessary amount of storage 2TB is for a Wii U SD card, even if you play Gamecube+Wii games off of it, but it is still cool. I can do it therefore I must, basically.

There is still a risk of file corruption, so make frequent backups
Didn't know it could corrupt files, I figured it would just make things crash or load so painfully slow that it wouldn't be worth it.

Will keep such in mind, but will still run 2TB on a flashcart anyways for ze lulz.

only reason not to use high endurance cards is storing apps on the sd card (theyre usually slow) but almost no modern android phones let you do that anyway geg

Tbh I don't mind the slightly slower speeds, I don't use many apps anyways, and my internal storage is 64GB which is plenty for what I need for apps, but as for memes and the occasional regular image/video, I'd need way larger than 64GB even if I transferred everything to my HDDs later. May root it soon in order to force many default apps to be removed, since I want to use the FOSS alternative as they are often lighter and don't ask for my location to take a photo.

you cant root north american samsungs, and outside of north america youll blow an e-fuse that disables knox and some other stuff if you do

id recommend using ADB to disable/uninstall all the junk, its pretty easy and theres no weird shit you need to do. all you need is a usb cable and a pc

I bought some shitty 128GB MicroSD card from like Target or something to use with my Vita, I'm not sure how good it is and loading times in Gravity Rush are a bit long but it doesn't bother me enough to buy a better one

I bought an international version of my phone and I don't really care about knox tbh since my phone is really just an overglorified mp3 player that can connect to the internet and make calls, I will never use it for banking or health or anything else secure like that
