think about it
  • appeals to faggots, nerds, autists, and other lower forms of life
  • ARM architecture means you cant run a lot of programs on it and the distro choices are limited
  • CPU uses ancient Cortex-A76 cores that get raped by even Haswell (2013) era Intel CPUs
  • GPU performance is on par with an original Xbox, again getting mogged by decade old PCs with weak hardware
  • claims to be "open" but theres a shit ton of blobs in the firmware (especially the GPU which controls the boot process for some reason)
  • uses shitty microSD cards for storage just like the nintendo switch (unless you pay extra to use an SSD adapter)
  • looks cheap but when you add up all the accessories required it costs more than a faster old pc (also those old PCs have upgradable RAM, CPUs, and storage devices)
  • made in the UK, literally the biggest cuck nation on earth for the past 2-3 decades
i could go on and on but i think you get the point. i used a raspberry pi 4 as my main pc for about a year and it sucked. a $100 ThinkCentre proved to be way better. unless you need GPIO there is no reason to buy a pi 4/5. the pi zeroes are actually more useful tbh.
heres that mini pc i was talking about btw. you can upgrade the RAM to 16GB and even put a 45 watt Xeon in it.

i mentioned that.
while i don't think gpio will ever go away or be an afterthought on pis, don't you agree that the way they're headed isn't good? the pi "foundation" seems to be more focused on making arm pcs for retards at this point than they are on robotics n other shiet that requires gpio.
the pi up until the 3B+ made sense: it was a low-cost ARM board for cool projects. who the fuck needs 8GB of RAM for a robot controller?
i sound like im contradicting myself but imo the pi is currently stuck in some weird purgatory where it's too "bloated" and expensive for what it was originally intended for, but also too cucked to compete with actual mini PCs.

retard you can buy the older models like pi4(33€) pi3(23€), zero wh(15 €)

They're not even good Arm platforms. Unironically a Mac mogs them because Macs have unknown features like "virtualization", "suspend mode" and "a real-time clock"

They're hard to run over battery due to not being built with that in mind, making some GPIO projects much harder than ideal

They require a 2.5a USB rail (For a fucking broadcom? That gets beat by a thirdie pajeet android phone?) as opposed to being usable on 3.7v LIon circuits

No encoders so they're unironically worse than my Haswell glorified monitor at basic PC tasks

AND the storage sucks HARD. The platform boots on SD cards and only recently gained USB boot (for actually high quality storage devices)

wtf even is a raspberry pi, is it just a thin client running something different than windows? I gutted a few of these for transistors and condensators because they can't even run windows CE half the time

micro sd is not even the worst solution my nigga I remember not finding ANY DOMs to fit thin clients because this shit was stopped being produced in the late mezazoic
