See, this is exactly my point on how derailment degenerates any further discussion of the original topic on the thread, and it can entirely be sourced from a mention of a user then spiraling into new discussion. A solution to this could have been, in the hypothetical solution we came up with regarding moving messages to other threads, to have moved Rot's question about why people hate Basil to Basil's thread about himself. This would have allowed for any further discussion of the topic at-hand in this thread to have continued, if further thoughts were to be generated, while also putting conversation about a user where that information belongs; in a thread that pertains to that user. This method would keep organization proper and avoid any threads from losing their focus, thus generating greater ideas by keeping on-topic conversations ongoing for longer periods of time.Thread status: derailed
you do know that threads would die so quickly if they were forced to talk about the same things?See, this is exactly my point on how derailment degenerates any further discussion of the original topic on the thread, and it can entirely be sourced from a mention of a user then spiraling into new discussion. Exactly, they would die quickly, so you should make a new thread for a new conversation, or find a past thread that correlates to that topic, and converse there. This is why the Christianity general thread exists, and look at all the conversation there's been on there. The intended topic of a thread dies even quicker when conversation is utterly unrestrained.you do know that threads would die so quickly if they were forced to talk about the same things?
a derailment is a natural progression into a new conversation.
