Linux and *nix - The Thread

It doesn't. I can run everything I did with windows and more. Aldoe some games have shitty anti cheats that make it so u can't play. To bypass this, I just have a portable version of windows (ghost spectre to be exact, with all of the goyslop removed) burned on an ssd that I can plug into my pc whenever I want and game on.

It's really nice, you should. I use fedora with kde. Try to get an ssd and do what I do if you're really worried about missing out on gaming n stuff. Also make sure your system is normal in terms of dependencies, like hp laptops can be finicky with audio and internet I think
im a game developer and I need a windows machine to test compatibility with my games, luckily the college i go to has bought me a crappy windows laptop and they're giving it to me for free once i leave so i was wondering what kind of version of windows 10 i could install with the least bloat possible just to install some low requirement games that don't run on linux, you know stuff like Roblox, Growtopia and 2D Godot games that I develop. i specifically need like a version of windows 10 with no bloat no preinstalled fucking viruses or anytihng.

Ghost spectre. It removes basically everything besides the bare minimum things like settings. It even comes with a custom executable that lets you choose your browser n stuff (I always use brave btw).

How did you get into gamedev? Since I have all summer off, I really want to get into it.

I started gamedev when I was about 9 years old on Scratch and Sploder, my games were shitty but eventually I got good at scratch and made some really complex things, switched to Python for small little applications and eventually decided I wanted to make an actual game and got working using GameMaker Studio 1.8. I had a professional license and GM studio would have been the engine I would have used to release my first real proper game, however, unfortunately, my professional license was lost or revoked and I had to move to a new game engine, which is when I found Godot. The Godot Game Engine is a surprisingly simple and easy to use engine. It took a while to learn but eventually I got the hang of it and used it to develop my first project which I have cancelled due to a lack of motivation.

My college wanted me to make them a game for a qualification so I decided to do so and yeah it's finished and my tutor says I should finish it and put it on steam but I'm never gonna do that lololo

anyways i advise u to use Godot its pretty awesome. Aside from that, I code in Java and C, Java for Minecraft mods, C for Homebrew software on old systems like the 3DS.

Why do redditors think gentoo is harder then arch? i think they are both on the same level of difficulty, maybe gentoo is even easier then arch! when a redditor uses gentoo he would add dumb shit like -O3 and redundant make.conf flags which actually slow down the speed, which is why i use -O2 and set mtune and rustflags, maybe some LTO, but LTO takes ages and may or may not improve speeds

Thank (You) for reading my schizo rant

Why do you do all of this doe? I think it's really cool that u know everything about your pc, and I want to be like you, but I feel completely content with my install of manjaro with KDE. Like does it support some kind of profession?
