Linux and *nix - The Thread

literally dont get why anyone would ever need more than debian stable
>muh outdated packages
kill yourself, if they still work there's no reason to complain.
>muh vidya
imagine being such a gayming-obsessed faggot that you need more than a permanently offline ps4/xbox one
all of the good games have already been released. if they perform poorly on the consoles i've mentioned above (e.g. cybercuck 2077) then they're not worth playing in the first place.

linux fucking sucks, albeit ill have to use it in 2025 because microsoft is glowing more and more

when i get a hard drive to back up my files on i'll probably move to mint (and eventually arch when i learn how to use it)

trvke, if you want to add a library to a project on linux its as simple as installing it including it and adding it to compiler flags
windows has no package manager (if you don't have winget) so library management is a fucking pain on it

Would it be possible to install Linux without using a USB? i've tried doing it a month back and never got it working
But trying out linux does really interest me.
If you just want to try it out use a virtual machine, go get a usb though, a usb stick is cheap you can get a 128gb usb for under 10 quid and put ventoy on it and fill it with ISOs

It doesn't. I can run everything I did with windows and more. Aldoe some games have shitty anti cheats that make it so u can't play. To bypass this, I just have a portable version of windows (ghost spectre to be exact, with all of the goyslop removed) burned on an ssd that I can plug into my pc whenever I want and game on.

It's really nice, you should. I use fedora with kde. Try to get an ssd and do what I do if you're really worried about missing out on gaming n stuff. Also make sure your system is normal in terms of dependencies, like hp laptops can be finicky with audio and internet I think

try network booting although i don't know why you can't do it with a usb unless your computer somehow does not support it
