Discussion How much does education differ in your country?

Irish is a mandatory subject if you aren't given an exception, despite it being hammered in, no-one knows it beyond the basic necessities for letters and the like. (e.g Hello, how are you? I like, I hate, My name is, I go to, My School is, I went on holidays, Can I go to the toilet? Dad, Mam, Uncle, Friend, Brother, Sister.... you get the idea.)

I Did technikum equivelant - HAVO

Are you from Netherlands? My brother and many of my friends in the 'versity did technikum. I only know they spent a year longer in the school, but they had some practical subjects about computers. One of guys on my university's year said he volunteered installing arch in all computers in one class of his technikum.
