i am almost at my goal of 20 chunks & 75 FPS on this shitty computer, for reference it has a dual-core (mobile btw KEEEEK) i3 and 8GB of RAM. without optifine it chugs on kikecraft, even this old ass version of the game. and now that i have installed optifine & tinkered with that shit for half an hour it runs quite well.
the cool part is that it makes you think about your computer's weaknesses and adjust settings accordingly; CPU power was obviously one for me, so i didn't choose to fuck with anything related to chunk rendering. doing so would likely just put thermal strain on the die with any FPS benefit negated by thermal throttling.

I have a 6 core ryzen and 64 gigs of ram. No, of course not.

I just run temp file cleanup
