That kind of thought and we'd still be hunter gathers, civilization is build on idea we are destined for something greater. It's a self realization. If we think, we become.

In Christianity it literally says that God created us so we could glorify him. Our purpose in life, according to them, is to glorify God.

I'm more at peace with the idea of just being hunter gatherers. It's a peaceful and simple life. Technology won't last for long.
Civilization doesn't really mean anything to me, it's just humans being humans.
