Autism Desktop Thread

There's no apt, no git and no way of installing more programs for as much as I can tell. There is a package manager, but it's quite slow, I think it's called choco? or win-get? I've tried it before but it genuinely takes ages to install shit. On Linux you can just open terminal sudo apt install firefox, on Windows you have to go about it the GUI way, which is just
::ACK::
There's also no diff, only an equivalent and it sucks ass.

It's missing a lot of linux staple programs.
Well I have Linux on my laptop and it sucks. I tried to install Zoom for a telehealth appointment and it just didn't work and I almost missed it.

As a Linux user I have no reason to use Windows personally. I know you can install windows and install some shitty Linux for Windows WSL bullshit to get atleast something out of it and make development a tad bit easier, but like, I'd rather just... not? I use Linux currently why would I switch to Windows just so I can use Linux again?

Linux probably sucks for your average user, honestly I would keep Zoom like 10 million miles away from my main Linux computer.
If you need work applications, get a work computer, like a chromebook o algo. Or a shitty windows laptop for all your school and work shit.

Well then. So I should just install Windows on it?

Keep your work/school computer and your main computer separate. Also, for Windows you need to install MinGW, which is a minimalist GNU environment just to compile C programs. That's literally installing Linux on Windows just to do shit, you're lucky that installing Linux on Windows is actually easy because Linux isn't a 10+ gigabyte iso bloatfest that Microsoft feels the need to cram your system with fucking candy crush ads and spyware.

Well, yeah, that's what I did. I bought a laptop so I could have IRL stuff on it and I thought about what people said about Linux so I thought I would give it a try. My computer doesn't have a webcam.

This is why I will never use Windows, just to compile you have to jump through a thrembillion hoops while on Linux/BSD I use a package manager to install compiler + cmake and I'm done.
