Putin turned Chechens into something like Gurkhas. They have a lot of authority, but everybody inside Russia hates them, so their only way to avoid ethnic oppression and genocide(not even from Russians, but from other Caucasians) is to completely obey the central government, which guarantees them a trouble-free existence. It also helped us influence Muslims abroad, many soldiers who served in Syria and communicated with Arabs were Chechens.
