SUPERHELL Ban megathread

Anyway @MoonMetropolis my 2c is that there should be a 16+ age limit because there's a lot of sexual and unsavory discussion that a 13-14 year old might be vulnerable to, not to mention it attracting unsavory actors (who are a big problem in soysphere related communities). I get that you already take a stance against those and that 13-14 year olds can still sneak in despite the 16+ limit, but having safety precautions is alright by my book. You mention websites like Reddit and social media being better when they were less rulescucked, but these websites also had a higher age median as well. There's a lot of factors that go into a good website besides "less rulescucking"

No, they didn't. Reddit was only 18+ on certain subreddits. Sites like Reddit and Xitter are usually 13+, if they have an age limit at all. We host far less adult content than Reddit and Xitter do and, as such, I see no need for any age limit on here.

Median means average age, I was saying that back around the early 2010's it was technically still 13+ but lowering the age limit here would attract less quality users and content. Around the early 2010s, Reddit didn't really have subreddits like r/teenagers, r/dankmemes, et.c or if it did they weren't so big.

The point of less rulescucking is to supposedly boost quality content and/or have less free speech limitations. Why encourage 13 year olds to post here? If they want to bypass the current rules system, it'd encourage them to be wittier and/or more intelligent to not be suspected of being underage.
 
I agree with Moon on the age limits thing. We didn't have them back in the Kuz days and everything went fine. As long as we dont allow porn I say we could do better than that era in not allowing degeneracy to fester. Any sort of situation involving age could be resolved with some talking most of the time, and general degens could still be punished for going too far like george floyd. In addition, I find age bans to be kinda annoying. They're already here, so their temp ban either leads us back to square 1 where they return again, or they never come back. Alting is allowed so they could just do that, but then it'll become whack a mole if you try and enforce their temp ban. It would be better to just cut the middleman out and save some time and effort. Also, I think the soysphere's demographics dont actually lean super young. We wont get 9 year olds willing to show their penis (wonder what happened to him), we'll just get more of the same, older teenagers, which is fine by me.
Also I think it would also be funny.
