What do you guys think? Personally, I think they're different. I'm not sure how to define meaning, but I just know it when I feel it. I used to feel it all the time as a child, but there was no purpose. I believe purpose to be something more future-oriented, a goal per say.

They are different, and you need to balance the two or you will never find peace. It's important to realize that all earthly accomplishments are insignificant when compared to eternity, but that doesn't mean you should be lazy and aimless. The human mind naturally gravitates towards God and eternity, but we also need earthly purpose to feel content and of any value. It's a different point for different people, some interpret the brief nature of our lives as cause to do nothing, it will all burn after all.
Other people might be the opposite, they know they have little time so they try to make as much of their lives and and accumulate the wealth/platform to alter society in their image, leave a better world for their children than the one they inherited.
I tend to veer towards the latter. To be a patriarch is more than just providing for your family, it's to create someone who will live forever.

Gemmy thread idea.
id say meaning is the immaterial value you get from doing
and your purpose dictates what and why you are doing it

but how different are the two if you derive meaning from your purpose?
i dont know what purpose is apart from it requiring conviction and fidelity that isnt rational

My purpose is in life to serve Allah, my meaning in life is to enjoy it while I still can
This but the first question of the Westminster confession.

Objective meaning is to reproduce and pass on your genes
Purpose is entirely subjective
