i dont really know... it's not just anime either. the way the people are so different i guess...

i actually attended uni in japan for a semester and had a great time there. but really i think it was being surrounded by motivated, high IQ people that made it so great, not the fact that they were japanese. i still have yellow fever doe. east asians are SISAs to me for some reason

Could it be that you have a fondness for the time you spent in uni? I mostly like Japan for anime and tech, but that's it, Japanese men to me seem like hermits and are very reclusive, maybe you could go into more detail though and prove me wrong

words words words below

yeah i did have a fondness for my time in uni, which did increase my appreciation for japan. i managed to integrate myself into a japanese social circle. but i later went back and kinda ruined the social circle i had going so that dampered my japan-fever a bit. i will say that the people i met there were very westernized, as most had attended school abroad before and there was a large amount of foreign exchange students there (besides me). and everyone was able to speak english too a high degree there. so most of the "exotic" nature of japan was lost, since all of the people i interacted with were familiar with western culture.

i'll give some examples. normally at schools, people refer to each other by their last names. but at the school i was at people went by their first names, following the western convention. and also i never saw anyone bow, or any of that shit they talk about in japanese culture books or whatever. people shook hands and hugged, even doe the books i read said japanese people don't do that. i'm not sure if it's because of the international nature of the school, or if the books i consulted were just outdated and japanese zoomers dont follow cultural norms anymore.

but the japanese people i was friends with still did show signs of japanese culture, and also the language too, they helped me out a bit there. i was surprised how friendly they were though, since a lot of people complained that they werent able to make friends in japan, especially compared to in their home countries. but i made more friends in japan than i have anywhere else... i wonder if that's because my shy and reserved nature (irl geg) resonates more with japanese people? and also my art maybe. i think i made a lot of friends through that

i dont even remember what the question was i just started reminiscing because im obsessed with my time in japan i miss it a lot. i hope you can find the answer to whatever you were asking somewhere in there doey
