Discussion gpu upgrade(?)

Why would you switch in the first place? You have a card that would last you at least two or three generations. You have enough VRAM; if it was an RTX with 8 gigabytes or less, I would say definitely get an upgrade, but with what you have, definitely not.

wait really? wow thats nice
Yes. The RTX 3060 (I suppose sure what you have is a PC version; the mobile version is only 6 to 8 gigabytes) is powerful enough to play any games nowadays on high or even ultra quality settings with very smooth above 60 FPS. What CPU do you have mind me asking?

AMD Ryzen 5 5600X, AM4 version

I've been wanting to upgrade my motherboard since some of the sata ports are broken, and have been looking at some AM5/DDR5 boards.
If you're upgrading to the AM5 socket and it's line of CPUs, I suggest the Gigabyte A620I AMD AM5 ITX Motherboard. Budget friendly too, 80 to 150 USD.

Most likely a high electrical current ran through the board. You're lucky that it's only the SATA ports.
it was only one set of two ports

I was hoping to get an ATX to fit my case. Found one by MSI for 199

im also going to get a blu ray drive, usb/sd card port hub, and ide-to-usb adapter for a floppy disk drive. Maybe a new cpu temp reader, all of this for the front of my case.
Do newer cases even have enough space for these? I remember the golden age of the late 2000s PC cases that had enough empty slots to place whatever you desired. But newer cases either have one slot if you're lucky, or none at all for that "minimalistic" clean look. I do not know how does your case looks or you're getting a one that has those spaces.

You could get a better amd gpu if you wanted

AMD has a more Greater-line of GPUs, yes. However, the drivers and driver managers are holding it back due to constant crashing and sometimes lack of support for newly released games. Other than that, AMD is a great choice, but I still prefer Nvidia solely for this reason.
