Well I couldn't tell you what it was like before because it's never really noticeable unless I bring my socks close to my nose and sniff them, but I took my shoes out today and the smell was strong enough that I could notice it without having to do that. If I had to conceptualize it I'd say it's a sort of fish-like smell.
