as these societies became first world it became more and more accepted to do that openly without the fears of repercussion from religious zealots and close minded individuals, hating gay people does not make you first world, on the contrary

First world countries are rich and devolped because they are willing to tolerate and explore different ideas. Third world shitholes are poor because they kill everyone who disagrees with their sand god. This means that first world countries will naturally become accepting of homosexuality while third world countries won’t.
