Yea, IIRC mint was the better beginner friendly distro back then as well.

The problem with linux is that it lacks software. I need autoCAD for work and the CAD software on linux leaves a lot to be desired. I also have a bloated excel file loaded with macros passed down by generations that I use daily that won't run on anything but MS excel.
