By the way, I've never thought about this too much, but why is AOC is 18 exactly? Is it like a median or an average age for people to be considered full adults or it's just that purely because of law reasons? I doubt absolutely everyone has to be fair game when they reach 18, there has to be someone who's still not ready for all of this stuff.

I don't know. There are people who are absolute infantile manchildren, yet are classified as adults by law. I also doubt that mother nature gives a shit about our human laws and does not abide them. AOC in this case aligns with the age of adulthood which Is around the time education ends (excluding higher education like college) this is the time in which you are expected to become your own person and to pursue your own path hence why once you reach the age of 18 you are allowed to legally do a lot more shit.

Possibly, it was only a few hundred years ago when the concept of teenagers didn't exist.
People lived for much shorter lives, so once someone started showing signs of puberty there were already considered an adult. Now with the average person's lifespan being much longer did the concept of teenagers exist (indirectly this resulted in the fact that the 12-18 year olds of today are much less mature then the ones that lived hundreds of years ago).

Is that the only factor in play? I though it would have to do more with how the brain matures during puberty, 18 being the age where an overwhelming majority would mature physically and mentally. And if it's the only factor then is calling europers >le peeeeedooooos really justified? What if AOC should actually be 21, like the drinking age in the US. (though to be fair, drinking age being 21 there has nothing to do with maturity either)
