The real answer is yes, tiktok and 240 character tweets have had detrimental effects on our generation. Some people are just too lazy to read out what seems like a well written post because it isn't said to them, you know all those niggas are watching the video on 1.5x speed because it just takes too much time to watch it normally. I think a big reason why people actually act like that is because they all hugbox each other either by incident or in 'cord servers where there's nobody to tell them they act like rock chewing mongoloids who can't parse a two paragraph statement, and even when they do hear it they just brush it off and ignore what probably was helpful criticism to their attitude (who would've guessed willful retardation isn't good). Kinda dissapoints me but the type of people who act like that aren't people I would associate with so they disappear into the background for me, but when I see them I remember why I hate people my age OTI. They just lack the mental fortitude I think a well adjusted person needs.

we say this but we often forget that we ourselves are the ones in an echo chamber, an "altnet" detattched from discord and mainstream social media, whilst it often appears that we're the different / weird ones. i myself never installed tiktok or used most of these social media apps so i guess i just got left behind and that's why i'm here. This place, the schlog, yeah it's similar to 'cord but theres nothing wrong with the idea of cord as an application for instant messaging, the issue is the culture it has garnered, which is why it's a kick in my shin to see the admins of this site use 'cord for all of this time and then say "old habits die hard doe" like jesus christ

i really like this site, i've never really used forums before but i do know they used to be around a lot. there are a lot of forums and typically they were for very specific things, but i've never really found somewhere that has a community that i like, most of the internet has always just been far too safe, if you know what i mean, and talking with normies makes me want to kill myself, that acting like i do anywhere else outside of the soysphere would get that kind of "wtf does 'geg' mean" reaction it makes me want to vomit

albeitdough overreaction i personally believe that the mainstream internet these days just sucks anyways, youtube is boring, the video essays got stale really quick, and 99% of the time my reccomendeds is just shitposts that last 5 seconds or videos i've already seen or 30 minute long essays on politics or shit i dont care about, which is funny. I stopped watching TV because it stopped appealing to me pretty much and now I'm probably about to stop watching youtube someday because the content it offers is shit and just not artistically motivated by anything, it's all motivated by an algorithm.

idk why im being such a pissbaby about the idea of people being different and inconsistent but i genuinely wish the whole world could come together and share things in common, i dont like being out of touch with most of my generation just because of silly things. even my sister, i used to be friends with her but now it's like she comes from a different planet, she watches slop content and gets into a hissy fit if i interrupt her to ask her a basic simple question. i think it's this kind of thing that just makes me idealize the 80s and 90s even more. atleast the cool thing about the schlog and a commonality i have noticed is i tend to enjoy places that promote smaller communities more, so i guess im the issue in that regard, i naturally flock to fitting into places that isn't a mainstream community or thing or hobby or literally anything for that matter.

Generally the internet is objectively worse than is used to be too, like not even talking about the content on youtube, just try searching. Do it right now, you will get a few results that are relevant to your search and a lot of crap on top of that has no relevance to what you're searching on. Google used to be revered for their search quality but it doesn't work anymore, it's called enshittification and is real.

The culture of the internet was irreparably damaged after 2016, Idk what happened in that year besides Trump getting elected that mindfucked all the big companies into getting them to censor everything. The iDubbbz, FilthyFrank, and MaxMoeFoe clique was legendary though that's fact check true. Sad Max just doesn't post anymore, Frank moved on and makes music now, and Ian is a faggot; kinda symbolic about the three paths a youtuber can take. The wider internet is just doesn't appreciate people who aren't brand/advertiser friendly and they're promptly kicked out, and those alternative sides brew bad reps from the people who keep using the large sites. Try to sell the sharty or 4cuck to your average X, Reddit, or Tumblr user, you can't. This is the thing you said about forums earlier, before the internet centralized there were a bunch of them, its why memes lasted so much longer back then, info moved slowly. With the advent of Twitter this changed though because people gave up their small communities to join a large network, and the thing with Twitter and Insta and the sort is that nobody really knows each other and once everyone was grabbed the advertisers were not happy with some content is when they started to remove people, and at the same time people on the other side of the hedge who are safe but are unhappy and would rather have online communities again forge discord servers to spread whatever the fuck they talk about, this is where the 'cordtranny came from and is how the schism we have now was formed, the large social medias are less popular than they were back in 2015-17 for people in the 16-20 age bracket. The way how I foresee it going on from now is that forums and imageboards are going to make a comeback for people who believe in lax moderation and free speech and trannies are going to continue to use discords where nothing can hurt them except themselves 41% of the time. That all may have been tangential to the point you brought up but I think its good to have context, janitors love to run their little serfdoms and have people bend over for their rules because the people inside want to talk to each other and that just isn't compatible with my lifestyle, moral changes come from the soul not because some fat modeator says so.
