I hate how almost nothing new has happened in this decade, I feel like there has been absolutely no shift at all since 20 fucking 20.. five years and it all feels like the same year.
I remember reading about how the top two grossing films of (December)ish 2024 was a sequel of a sequel of a 30 year old franchise (Sonic the Hedgehog 3) and the other film was a sequel of a remake of a cult classic from nearly 30 years ago (Mufasa: The Lion King) and I felt so fucking ill after finding this out because it was a sudden realization about how bad things really are now and to think that we had a "writer's strike" not too long ago.

Then you have shit like Beetlejuice 2 which came out 36 years after the original film, as of last year there were reports of a "Bewitched" [which initially came out in 1964] reboot which is a series I doubt anybody here actually knows of because that's how fucking old it is, it's on the same level as something like "I Dream of Jeannie" which came out only a year after Bewitched in fucking 1965. All the main cast members of Bewitched died in the 1990s by the way, then you have these trailers for the new Bridget Jones film which is the fourth installment in a series that should've just been one or two movies, the first Bridget Jones film coming out 24 years ago in 2001.

Rehash after rehash, sequel after sequel, prequel after prequel, reboot after reboot, continuation after continuation, all the new original shit gets buried in favor of mainstreamslop.

Even the U.S presidency is a sequel, I genuinely wouldn't be surprised if they tried running Biden again in 2028.

Making porn normalizing behavior and promotion of pornography on non adult websites on par with grooming and EPI (which it literally is), and heavily discouraging porn culture on non porn adult websites would be a good step.
In other words help the addict kill the recruiter/spreader. Keep porn on porn sites and nowhere else, treat it like smoking. Etc.
