One time I was chilling in bed around 9pm and I heard a gunshot from my neighbors house. Me and my little brother hid for a while, and we saw flashlights sweeping our yard, so we called the cops.
The police said they'd send people, but they didn't bother to stay on the phone. If they did, they'd probably have realized that there were already two cops in the area, and that they had just shot my neighbors dog and then started walking through my yard.
It took them about 20 minutes to finally knock and let us know that there wasn't a home-invasion/murder, and that there weren't criminals poking around my yard.
I guess I don't know how police work, but I feel like that should have been cleared up with a minute-long conversation between the dispatcher and the officers.
I mean, it's just retarded. what if I was a grown-up with a gun and I decided to defend myself against, what I believed to be, an armed murderer walking around my front yard? I mean at least go turn on your sirens or something so I know the police are near. Idk, it seems like a major fuck up on their part.
Also it was a big dog who came across as aggressive, so I do kind of understand why a cop might have shot it in the moment. I don't know what happened so I don't really hold it against them I guess
