I've had many different beliefs, but almost all of them involve some type of afterlife or reincarnation.
I believe in Heaven currently.
From ages 6 to 12, I really felt like there was nothing after it all, and that one day all of my experiences and memories would disappear and I'd never even know that I was once alive, which fucked me up.
I think that, even if I was convinced that there is no afterlife, I would still force myself to believe it so I don't go insane.
Even at 10, I was getting into "if there's no afterlife, then maybe I should just die now" territory.

I find the idea of quantum suicide interesting.
I just learned what this was, but I've always had a similar feeling. Sometimes when I cross an intersection, I convince myself that there's a car speeding through that I can't see, and that it hit and killed me, but I just carried on in a timeline where that didn't happen

“Life after death” was invented to help psychologically weak people cope with the hopelessness of life. In abrahamic (read jewish) religions specifically it was also a way to make slaves feel better about their situation since they believed the jewish slaves would be rewarded for living awful lives while the egyptian slavers would be punished for living good lives.
