One of my favorite games ever is the cult classic dungeon atmospheric dungeon crawling game Darkest Dungeon. Its one of the only games I will come back to frequently over the years, and it came out in 2016.
Anyways, part of the replayability aspect of darkest dungeon is that it has a thriving modding community in the steam workshop. New class, enemy, equipment, and even dungeon mods come out frequently to this day, and because the game is 2d and it uses puppet animations and stills, it is very easy for anyone who has decent art skill to make user generated content on par with the vanilla game itself.
By modding your game you can add all this stuff and keep the game fresh. The most fun in it is finding synergistic team comps with the modded heroes.
Unfortunately cool mods like this are the minority in the steam workshop. Most of the time you will be sifting through shit like this (except for the pizza tower class thats funny)
You see the darkest dungeon modding community is INFESTED with tranime gooners, and even worse, koreans. And the level of goonslop that is allowed is insane, I still find myself getting shocked at the fetishes I see when looking for mods even today. There are tons of straight foward porn mods where they just put hentai shit in the game too. You will also find that a lot of the tranime mods overlap with 4cuck interests like 4cuck's favorite gacha games and whatnot. There are a lot of very high quality class mods that are wasted talent because they are also anime porn classes or have some wierd fetish (usually morally questionable in nature theres this one nigger who apparently makes very good classes, but all of them are women with different flavors of his disfigurment fetish) tied into their design. It always pissed me off because I don't know why you would want to make a game like darkest dungeon a porn game. Just goon to actual porn.
The koreans are horrible too. I would say (I don't want to check to be sure) that they are responsible for the majority of the gooner mods. They also like to not fucking translate their shit, and have generic thumbnails that tell you nothing about the mod, so their mods are basically just unreadable bloat that I have to scroll past. All of this makes looking for the good stuff that gets released in between really annoying. Especially because steam has no negative search function.
That said there is also a ton of hilariously cringey stuff there too. Furfags have also been turning out a lot of cosmetic mods to make all the characters anthros.
