We were very close during those 4 years, in fact he was my only IRL friend at the time (and vice versa). Ended up slowly drifting apart after graduation, and I nuked my Discord account in December, roughly a month after our last conversation. I do believe we're still on good terms though, there was never any conflict. He was busy a lot as high school came to a close because of his job at a retailer nearby.
I tried making a throwaway 'cord account and adding him on there (somehow remembered his tag) a week ago and I never got a response, even though I included an inside joke we used in my description.
For most people this would mark the end of the road, but luckily his house is only about a block away from mine. He still lives there too, as indicated by his parents' cars in the driveway. Should I leave a letter in his mailbox? It would include my name, an apology for cutting him off abruptly, and my contact info (again). I could also just knock on the door, but I don't feel comfortable doing that (even though I'm on good terms with his parents, from the few times I talked to them a while back).
