Autism is it me or have youtube ads become unbearable

i never used adblockers for most of my life, even doe ive been watching jewtube since 2011 or so. they were always mildly annoying, nothing crazy though.
but now it's too much, every single video (even sub-60 second ones) have 1 or 2 ads before they start. it's especially bad on TVs & game consoles. not to mention in-video sponsorships.

most of the time i just give up and stop watching youtube entirely if i get like a minute-long ad break. reading stuff is better anyway

UblockOrigin + Firefox is a must have. Adblock makes YT seethe. When I watch stuff on the 'tube on console or my phone it loads unskippable 2min ads now. The definition of what is considered an ad has changed as well with me getting full 3 hour podcasts as promoted "ads". With raisin like this and .webp files it makes me miss the old internet.

especially those ads for those weird hentai games that you see pop up, its even worse now they use AI and the anime girls look uncanny
and no, it doesnt matter if you have personalization features off, they still come up if you live in the US and you will get completley different ads anywhere else

Very true, it is one of the many reasons why I blocked ads (and some sites) network-wide in my home, no one wants to see pornography.
