Keep in mind that the gemerald babybot was actually getting rid of the 'p, while also providing PPH, AND conversation starters. People still joke with the "First" line, and manual image verification fixed the 'p problem entirely. Plus goonclown and the like was out of janny reach for the time being, you can't really control what you don't own in the first place, and goonclown was doxxed later.

Also notice how when Doll moved out (sorta), and now Froot moves in, the entire site gets significantly worse in a lot of regards. This means the site had to drop from a higher notch on the quality totem poll because you can't become a worse site by staying exactly the same.
