If you were raised in an atheist family, you will be an atheist. A Christian family will produce Christians and a Muslim family will produce Muslims. It's not that complex

And for everyone, their faiths will make sense to them, just as my lack of faith makes perfect sense to me.

i was agnostic for most of my life and still shift between agnosticism and orthodox christianity, but i only started researching religion a couple of years back

That is how it works for the vast majority of people on earth. Converts are rare, but people falling out of religion isn't, because the entire concept of a religion is incredibly dubious and primitive. From my perspective, it's just a cope for ancient people to prevent losing their minds whenever they try to think of why/how they are on this earth. It's all fairy dust. It's not real.
