I never even heard of this game before you brought it up in the OP, it seems like any other crappy RPGmaker game made by a seriously perverted head dev. There's nothing special about it in my head.

HL really inspired the genre so it still holds up to modern design in most places and does not feel antiquated, you won't feel wronged if you like fast paced shooters. Just don't go in expecting Call Of Duty and its a spectacular time. What I would give to beat Half life for the first time again, and the expansions are super good too you need to play them after.
