This, but also sites like TikTok ruined the social aspect of social media, the "social" aspect of the internet was already beginning to die in the 2010s due to the transition from forums to general media websites, though TikTok and the TikTok method/approach of cultivating and presenting/broadcasting media was the nail in the coffin, because for the one original head that gets sliced off there are a hundred more competitors and knockoffs that sprout up simultaneously, people will just flock to Youtube Shorts or Rednote and whatever else is out there.

You go on to a lot of these mainstream sites nowadays and you'll be met with nothing but "content" and derivative dribble, if you go onto Youtube some of the biggest forms of "content" is namefag channel #1 snca drama arguing with another namefag channel #2 for being "problematic" or "politically incorrect".
You go onto Instagram and it's just unfiltered hedonism and compiled with arrogance and envy both from the people commenting on these "influencer"'s pages, and by the "influencers" themselves.
You go onto any of these sites and the primary focus is on the media, not the communication or conversations, even Discord which is built on instant and direct communication can't even do that properly, as most people just post memes and random shit that they find from other sites like TikTok instead of directly discussing shit with other people.

I also hate that everytime you try to engage in conversations with certain demographics online, they only discuss the newest shit that happens online, it's like the world around them doesn't actually matter or that they care, unless it's related to American politics.

Communication online is dead and in it's place is filler in abundance.

we should decentralize the internet again or something lol

Even if people do actually talk on der 'cord it's either 14 person group chats about other servers, furry-larp tier fluff that isn't actually funny at at all, or complaining about their dead-end /lgbt/ lives
You even see this on 4cuck with the proliferation of genthreads
Sharty is unironically oldfag site
