Opinion on fruits

[doctos] WARNING SNCA BLOGPOST :cobshock:

There are some very healthy fruits, but there are also some very unhealthy ones. The main issue with fruit is that they contain fructose. It's the same sugar that makes corn syrup and processed sugar so bad. Thats why in general, the less fructose a fruit has, the better. Some top tier fruit include, citrus, berries (which includes bananas), pineapples and pomegranates. On the other hand, apples and other high fructose fruits should probably be avoided. Same with most fruit juices. They add so much sugar, you might as well drink soda. Some fruits I'd suggest adding to your diet are red grapes due to being good source of bioavailable boron and black berries which are both low in fructose and high in vitamin C.

What if they don't have added sugar?
You’d have an easier and cheaper time just squeezing your own fruit juice.

Fructose is 100% bad for you. Yes organs like the liver need fructose, but your body produces most of the fructose you’ll need. Even while avoiding fructose, you’ll easily hit whatever fructose requirements you think you need and then some. Your comment is technically right, in the same way as saying copper is healthy for you. Your body needs copper to function, but the moment you eat anything with enough copper that it’s worth noting, it’s too much copper for you. If you never let a molecule of fructose enter your body for the rest of your life, you could happily live off the fructose your body synthesizes. An apple (even doe apples have been breed and modified to have more sugar over the last 100 years) a day won’t screw you over, but much more will cause insulin resistance, higher rates of cancer, and liver problems.

Nutrition science has outdated ideas like the food pyramid still in modern conversation. The only reason people don’t outright ban fructose additives is because the corn industry relies on corn syrup manufacturers to buy their crops. It’s a billion dollar industry that weakens the general public.
