But from the perspective of Jews at the time it is understandable why they were confused.
3. Ideas about HISTORY, and specifically pre-WWII. I didn't say every idea that ever existed before 2000 was good. I would be careful calling other groups pedos while you're defending a book which suggests the Israelites ought to "keep the female children alive for themselves". Hell, does the bible even ever formally condemn child marriage? Late marriage was a Germanic trait before even Christianization (according to Caesar) and it was part of what made Western Europe so sucessful, meanwhile the near east seems to have larger age gaps in marriages.

2. Deut 20 clearly describes these massacres as a preemptive measure, not as a judgement. You can say "they deserved it anyways" but that's not the motivation, and for the record child sacrifice was really a specifically canaanite thing. The Romans and Greeks described it too and everyone else was appalled by it.
3. None of these quotes have anything to do with child marriage or chastising people who marry people under a certain age threshold. They just refer to harming children, sexual immorality, or in the case of the famous "millstone" quote, teaching children to sin. Where was "the LORD" to smite the Israelites marrying 12 year olds? No where, but god forbid you make a graven image.

1. They did deserve it and it’s because it is judgement for evil, not because they weren’t Israelites.
2. I highly doubt child marriage was a practice in the region. The Bible preaches heavily against other sexual deviancies such as incest so this is a sign that other sexual deviancies were more common than others. In this case only a few verses stating that causing children to sin is needed cause I highly doubt it was a widespread issue or even an existing issue to begin with.

Isaac was married to Rebecca when he was 40-years-old (Genesis 25:20), so if Rebekah was born when Isaac was 12 years old and Isaac married her at 40 then she would be at least 28 years old.

God did not reveal themselves to these people, so it seems quite unjust to punish them for something like idolatry that they could not have known is wrong. I can understand thinking something extremely unnatural like sacrificing your own children is just intuitively wrong but idolatry was defended by many of the great sages of the ancient world. Furthermore, instead of proselytizing to them the Jews wiped them out wholesale unlike the later Christians. Including the impressionable types like the women and the children.

I am not going to say who won and who didnt win, but I am purely going to rate the debat performance, going by how you debate, I'd place you at about tier 9-8, you could sharpen this by elaborating on your claims each time or quoting them when the other party starts going circular, albeit it's nice that you know how to throw rhetorical jabs.

This paragraph doesn’t state she was 13, it only proves she wasn’t 3 which is why I chose it. It’s more likely she was way older than that especially considering the theme of the patriarch and matriarchs having children at an old age.
